On Saturday May 14th at Georges Vanier Secondary School, Toronto, Canadian artist and Trent alumn Spencer J. Harrison will show off his recent paintings and other work in studio. Dr. Harrison became the first artist-in-residence at Georges Vanier Secondary School, where he hopes to "inform and energize students to work towards a more open and accepting environment in their school and their world", and supports efforts to make schools safer for LGBT youth. Dr. Harrison is currently an instructor at OCAD University.
Dr. Harrison is a former liason officer and artist-in-residence for Champlain College. During his time at Trent University, he became the first Ph.D student to complete his dissetation through artwork, and has donated many pieces to the Trent University Art Collection. Harrison will be donating two more new pieces to Trent's Alumni House, and other pieces of his work can be viewed here.
