Trent alumus Chris Magwood is about to launch his latest book, "Sustainable Home Design," bringing together much of what he has learned in over 20 years of designing and building into an accessible format. A presentation -- Sustainable Building: The Bad News & the Good News -- will be part of the evening. It all takes place Monday, August 14, 2017, 7:30pm at the Mount Community Centre in Peterborough.
Chris currently acts as curriculum developer and instructor at the Endeavour Centre, "providing experiential education at the intersection of high-performance and natural building." He has authored or co-authored several books on sustainable building and was the editor of The Last Straw Journal, an international quarterly of straw bale and natural building. He has also contributed articles to numerous publications (including Mother Earth News, Harrowsmith, Home Power, and others) on topics related to sustainable building.
Chris was awarded the 2008 Excellence in Education Award by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). He was named a Canadian Eco-Hero by Harrowsmith Magazine. He has won numerous design and teaching awards, including a Home Sweet Home Award for Affordable Housing.
