Straight from the streets of Windsor, Jonathan Pinto’s The Best of Windsor Cookbook has chronicled many of the best recipes in Essex County. These are sure to make even the most distinguished foodie’s mouth water.
Pinto, a producer of CBC’s Windsor Morning show, has collected several years of interviews with chefs and owners of restaurants in the region as part of his radio column Food with Jonathan Pinto. This book revisits many of these establishments, including Caboto Club, Blak’s Bakery, the Chicken Inn, Wagner Orchards and Estate Winery, and Blind Owl.
From an interview with Windsor Morning, Jonathan Pinto states "There was certainly more than enough material for a few cookbooks, but [the book] could only be so long and I wanted to have a good mixture of foods."
The Best of Windsor Cookbook was released on Nov. 15 and is available in bookstores, online and at restaurants in the Windsor region. It is also available at the Biblioasis retail store on Wyandotte Street East in Windsor.
